Bangkok to Phuket is one of Thailand’s busiest leisure routes, and by private jet it takes about an hour and a quarter. The time you save is mostly on the ground: you leave from a private terminal at the hour you choose, and you can be on the road to your villa within minutes of landing. This page sets out the route in figures, the airport choices at each end, and the aircraft that suit it.

Departing Bangkok: Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi

Bangkok has two airports that handle private flights, and the right one depends on where your journey starts.

Don Mueang (DMK)

Don Mueang is Bangkok’s main business aviation airport, with a dedicated private terminal. It is the usual choice if you are starting from the city: you arrive by car, pass through a short security check and walk to the aircraft. For a domestic flight to Phuket there are no customs or immigration formalities on departure.

Suvarnabhumi (BKK)

Suvarnabhumi is Bangkok’s main international airport. It is the natural choice when you are connecting from a long-haul arrival, because it avoids a road transfer across the city. The connection is planned so that your bags, your passport formalities and the private departure follow one sequence. Travellers can only charter a private jet to or from Suvarnabhumi when they are connecting to or from a commercial flight. Otherwise, Don Mueang is the airport for private flights in and out of the capital.

Arriving at Phuket

Phuket International (HKT) sits in the north of the island, roughly 30 to 60 minutes by road from the main west-coast resort areas such as Bang Tao, Surin, Kamala and Patong, depending on traffic. It is one of Thailand’s busiest airports in the November to April high season, so aircraft parking and movement slots are confirmed as part of your booking, particularly if the aircraft is staying on the island for your return. On arrival, the handling agent meets the aircraft and ground transport can be arranged to meet you.

Which aircraft suit Bangkok to Phuket

At about 690 km, this route sits well inside the range of every business aircraft category. The choice comes down to how many people are travelling, how much luggage they carry and the cabin they want.

Turboprops and light jets for couples and families

Turboprops such as the Beechcraft King Air are efficient on short sectors and seat up to eight. Light jets seat up to 6 passengers, fly faster and higher, and are the most common choice for a family weekend or a short business visit.

Midsize jets for larger groups and more luggage

A midsize jet seats up to 8 passengers with a larger cabin and more baggage space. It suits a larger family travelling for a long stay, a group with golf bags or dive equipment, or a party that wants to continue from Phuket to Singapore, Hong Kong or beyond on the same aircraft.

Connecting from an international arrival in Bangkok

Many Bangkok to Phuket charters start with a long-haul arrival at Suvarnabhumi. Rather than waiting for a domestic connection, passengers transfer to a private aircraft that leaves when they are ready. Share your inbound flight number when you enquire so the private departure can be timed around it, allowing for personnel to meet you off your commercial flight, assist you throughimmigration, baggage and on to your private aircraft.

The same works in reverse: a private flight from Phuket can deliver you to Bangkok in time for an evening long-haul departure, without the risk of a delayed domestic connection.

Extending the trip: Koh Samui, Krabi and beyond

Phuket is a convenient base for the rest of southern Thailand and the region. Koh Samui is about 40 minutes away by air, Krabi is a short hop across Phang Nga Bay, and Langkawi in Malaysia is around 40 minutes south. A multi-stop itinerary can be quoted as one trip. See our Koh Samui private jet charter page for the slot and parking rules that apply there.

What drives the cost of a Bangkok to Phuket charter

A private charter is priced per aircraft, not per seat. On this route the main factors are the aircraft category, whether the aircraft is already positioned in Bangkok or Phuket, whether it waits on the island for your return or flies back to base and returns to collect you, crew overnight costs, and airport and handling charges. Peak dates around Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year also affect availability. Our guide to private jet charter cost in Asia explains how each element is built into a quote.

Booking your flight with ASA’s Bangkok team

ASA Air Charter has arranged private flights across Asia since 1999 and has an office in Bangkok. The ASA Group and its subsidiaries act solely as air charter brokers and do not own, maintain, or operate any aircraft, so we compare aircraft across many operators to find the right one for your group and dates.

Before any aircraft is proposed, we check the operator’s Air Operator Certificate and that its insurance covers the specific flight. You can read more on how ASA selects operators.

We prefer a week’s notice before the departure date to ensure all permits and approvals are in hand. If you need to fly sooner, contact our charter team and we will check whether it is operationally viable at short notice.

Bangkok to Phuket private jet — frequently asked questions

How long is a private jet flight from Bangkok to Phuket?

About 1 hour 15 minutes. The great-circle distance is around 675 km from Suvarnabhumi and 690 km from Don Mueang, and the flight from Phuket back to Bangkok takes about the same time.

Which Bangkok airport is best for a private flight to Phuket?

Don Mueang (DMK) is Bangkok’s main business aviation airport and the usual choice if you are starting from the city. Suvarnabhumi (BKK) is better when you are connecting from a commercial flight, because it avoids a road transfer across Bangkok.

Can I connect from a commercial flight in Bangkok straight to a private jet?

Yes. The private departure from Suvarnabhumi can be timed around your inbound arrival, allowing time for immigration and baggage collection.

What aircraft do you recommend for a family of six?

A light jet or turboprop seats six to eight passengers and suits most families of six on this route. If you are travelling with a lot of luggage, golf bags or dive gear, a midsize or large jet gives more cabin and baggage space.

How far in advance should I book a private jet to Phuket over Christmas?

We prefer a week’s notice before the departure date to ensure all permits and approvals are in hand. If you need to fly sooner, contact our charter team and we will check whether it is operationally viable at short notice. Over Christmas and New Year, aircraft and parking at Phuket are in high demand, so the earlier you enquire the more choice you have.
